A Coon Rapids man was killed Wednesday morning when he drove in front of a Union Pacific train at the crossing on County Road P-33 (S Ave) south of Highway 30, just west of The Hill golf course near Grand Junction.
The accident occurred at 8:40 am. According to information from the Iowa State Patrol, Marvin Lee Krueger, 62, of Coon Rapids was southbound on P-33 driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla when he failed to stop for a westbound train. The train struck the vehicle within the railroad crossing. Krieger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Greene County sheriff’s office, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction fire assisted at the scene.
